Hi, my name is Claire and I’m the face behind Back My Stitch Up Design.
I’m originally from Yorkshire in the UK, but I joined the Royal Air Force in 2010 so I spent 8 years moving around the country, and did overseas deployments in Afghanistan and Oman. I left the military in 2017 after having my first child and then became a Childminder. Now I live in Cyprus with my husband and 2 lovely children.
How long have you been drawing for?
I only started drawing 2 years ago when I had to close my Childminding business during the COVID lockdown. I had just had my second child and needed money to pay the bills, and my dream was to design patterns for cloth nappies. So I decided to teach myself how to make seamless patterns and the rest is history!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
My children and their interests is always a great source of inspiration. They both love dinosaurs so I have lots of Dino designs. I also love military-inspired designs with being a military family. My Rep team also come up with some great design suggestions!
What is the most exciting thing you’ve seen your artwork on?
There’s nothing better than seeing my own children wearing my designs, it’s really special. And seeing my designs on cloth nappies is amazing because that’s where my pattern obsession started.
What is your favourite style at the moment?
I’ve just invested in a new watercolour set so I’m loving colourful, fun watercolour designs at the minute.
