Hello! I’m a textile designer, illustrator and maker based on Norfolk Island, a beautiful island paradise located in the south Pacific. With a varied background in costume, archaeology and visual arts, I'm inspired by my travels and the natural environment around me. Currently I am designing patterns using illustrations of local fish and birdlife. Surface pattern design is a long process that involves finding inspiration, sketching, creating the final motifs and then putting it all together to make a repeat pattern. I absolutely love the process and enjoy seeing my artwork on fabric. I create my original artwork using traditional materials like pencil, gouache and ink, but I also create digital illustrations using programs like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator on my laptop and iPad. I love being able to draw on-the-go so I often bring along my iPad and sketch out in nature. Colour is something I love to infuse in my patterns and I try to create fabrics that bring joy!
