Muslin. The perfect fabric for summer days in Queensland, or honestly anywhere that gets above 30 degrees celsius. It’s soft, it’s light and it’s so breathable! It’s similar to sew to any woven fabric but take care if you need to unpick as the loose weave can mean it is much easier to catch the wrong thread. Cloth Cuts muslin has a subtle rumpled texture (that if you didn’t like you could definitely iron it out) but it means you can wash, flick and dry without having to worry about any creases – cause it’s meant to look that way.

At the super generous width of 150cm, purchasing 1m to create a scarf or baby blanket is a super easy project for any level beginner. Simply hem the edges and you’re done! The perfect light weight blanket or scarf. Make sure you wash the muslin before you begin sewing, as it can shrink a bit. And the fabric is prone to fraying so make sure you have scissors handy when you pull it off the line.

Muslin is a loosely woven cotton fabric, it is incredibly soft and while lightweight this fabric has great breathability, making it the great option for some pieces of clothing, especially scarves. While a very versatile fabric, some common uses of muslin are; dressmaking, scarves and baby products including swaddled, blankets, baby wipes and breastfeeding covers.

We understand that every project is unique. That's why we offer a minimum order of just half a meter, but hey, why stop there? Need more? We’ll cut your Muslin in one continuous length for quantities over a meter. This means uninterrupted fabric bliss for larger projects!

Caring for Your Muslin

Taking care of Muslin is as easy as pie. Simply hand wash or opt for a gentle machine wash in cold water with a gentle laundry detergent. When it's time to dry, hang your creation or lay it flat. This TLC will keep your Muslin looking and feeling fabulous.
