Let’s talk sports performance!

I can’t claim to be the SA – Sports Active (or commonly known as Sports Performance) sewing queen by any means but with dance and sports a large part of our lives, I like to think I’ve experienced the good, the bad and everything in between in RTW and small business made sports performance garments. I know I’m not alone in having witnessed underperforming fabrics in garments that REALLY need to perform. I’m looking at you see through, pilling, stretched out, delicate wash only activewear! Ain’t nobody got time for that!!

Buttttt I for one also can’t justify spending crazy money on big brand activewear for myself (who’s workout preference is horizontal running) or my teen who wants ENDLESS variety. Needless to say, I JUMPED at the opportunity to test Cloth Cuts sports active. If I can make them myself, that’s a huge win and given how impeccable Cloth Cuts quality has been in every other base, I was sure it’d be worth the effort.

Y’all….. I was right!! This Sports Active can do no wrong! I’ve washed it at up to 60 degrees, stretched it to its absolute limits and it just keeps coming back for more. The print quality, as with all Cloth Cuts bases is beautiful, vibrant and crisp. It stretches enough to bust out your most bendy yoga moves while still hugging firmly enough to feel supported. Recovery is spot on, any after-use stretch isn’t noticeable and certainly, after a wash, it looks good as new again. Squat proof tights need the right fit and pattern but even the best of them will be damned without a great fabric to pull it all together and this one has you covered….. literally!

It sews like butter, of course, there is slip so buddy up to your wonder clips but that’s to be expected in a base such as this and the couple of grumbles while sewing are nothing compared to the expletives I’ve thrown at similar bases in the past.

If you love your activewear, whether for actual active activities or comfortable grocery shopping, you must must must give this SA a go. You won’t be sorry!

Easy Care Instructions

Caring for our Sports Active fabric is as simple as it gets. Cold machine wash with mild detergent, avoid rough surfaces, and for best results, use a garment bag. Skip the fabric softeners and tumble drying – air drying will do the trick.
